Paleo and Fitness Acronyms
Considering all of the jargon that gets thrown around the Internet on a daily basis when we’re discussing evolutionary health and fitness, I thought it might be helpful to post a list of commonly used acronyms.
This list isn’t authoritative, but I think it includes the terms most likely to show up in paleo-lifestyle related articles.
- SAD = Standard American diet
- WAPF = Weston A. Price Foundation
- IF = Intermittent fasting
- EPA/DHA = Eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acid
- ALA = Alpha-linolenic acid
- SFA = Saturated fatty acids
- PUFA = Poly-unsaturated fatty acids
- MUFA = Mono-unsaturated fatty acids
- AGE = Advanced glycation end-products
- CLA = Conjugated linoleic acid
- CLO = Cod liver oil
- CVD = Cardio vascular disease
- CHD = Coronary heart disease
- HDL = High density lipoprotein
- LDL = Low density lipoprotein
- BG = Blood glucose
- FBG = Fasting blood glucose
- GF = Gluten free
- HIT = High intensity training
- WOD = Workout of the day
- Metcon = Metabolic conditioning

Yeah, it’s quite appropriate – I wish I could take credit for coming up with it.
Good list thereis one more you can add – FOX = fish oil and exercise.
For a long time, I had a hell of a problem figuring out what WOE/WOL meant. Might want to include those…(Way of Eating/Way of Life).

LA….Linoleic Acid
MetS…Metabolic Syndrome
T2D….Type 2 Diabetes
VLDL…Very Low Density Lipoprotein
also, I might suggest you change HIT to HIIT…High Intensity Interval Training
There are so many acronyms, I’m glad I found this list I was getitng confused with all the acronyms. SFA was the one I didn’t know.
