Top 10 Signs Your Co-Worker is Intermittent Fasting
We’ve all seen that guy at the office (I’ve been one of them on occasion). You know who I’m talking about – when you and your co-workers go to Chipotle for lunch, but that one guy who loves Chipotle comes up with some lame excuse for why they can’t come along.
Weird isn’t it? Why aren’t they hungry, you didn’t see them eating anything at their desk this morning…
Well, I’ve compiled a list of warning signs to help you figure out if the reason that person is acting strange is because they’re currently intermittent fasting.
- They’re always prompt about brewing a pot of coffee in the morning, but are usually responsible for it being empty an hour later.
- You hear them snicker every time they walk by the free morning donuts brought in by the receptionist.
- They’re amazingly productive in the morning, but disappear for two hours during lunch time.
- The cooler they brought their lunch to work in has wheels on the bottom.
- When you do spot them eating, it reminds you of that documentary about wolves you saw on Animal Planet.
- They eat their meals with dishes and utensils of a size fit for Hagrid from Harry Potter.
- Only an hour and a half of that two hour lunch break are spent eating. The other half hour is spent in the restroom.
- One time you caught them peeing on some kind of stick in the bathroom. Why you were looking is another story.
- You caught them with their belt and pants button undone after lunch. (Note: Stop looking at their crotch.)
- You invite them to happy hour drinks with some other co-workers, but they mumble something about having to go home to prepare “first dinner”.

Just last night, while eating dinner with my wife, I had to consciously think to myself: “slow down, stop eating so fast”, at least 3 times so that I wouldn’t be done eating in a couple minutes.

I did intermittent fasting for a while. I think the huge-meal that it encourages you to eat can really undermine your progress. I used to eat a really huge meal and I think that’s why the scale didn’t move as fast as I felt it should. I also found it really tough to avoid eating at social occasions. A girl asked me out to dinner and I told her I only ate once a day. She thought I was making it up.
